Today was my first day of volunteering for the South Downs National Park.
I wasn’t really sure what to expect but what a great day it was.
The day started by meeting the the SDNP rangers and a nice cup of coffee. Next was a quick safety briefing and going through the details of where we would be working and what we were planning on doing.

Once we we onsite we started off tackling an area of bramble, gorse and hawthorn. The aim was to clear the entire area down to the same level as the grass, so when the sheep are in the field they will keep the area clear. After about 4 hours of hard work we had cleared an area totalling some 40sqm, which was really satisfying.
